Edward Sullivan proposes City Council salary cut and elimination of personal aides.

Cambridge, MA – July 23, 2009 – Edward J. Sullivan, candidate for Cambridge City Council, has proposed a measure that would increase necessary funding for the city of Cambridge. Under the plan, those elected to office this November will accept a 10% decrease from the current city council salary. In addition, each of the nine elected councilors will forego hiring a personal aide for their City Hall office.

The anticipated savings of over $350,000 per year will be used to supplement funding for public safety and education in the city of Cambridge. In a time of economic struggle, such a plan will allow the city to aid invaluable services without negatively impacting the citizens of Cambridge
